Brooke, an Austin, TX-based fitness model and personal trainer, spent a few days in Hawaii last month, and was kind enough to share her photo diary with us. Essie’s “Where’s My Chauffeur?” We are both completely obsessed with turquoise and love popping a bit of color on the nails, like Essie’s Where’s My Chauffeur.  Um, by the way, where IS our chauffeur?

Maui Babe Bronzing Lotion: We grew up in the 80’s and absolutely LOVE our tans!  We stay safe with SPF 30 but get our bronze on by slathering a little Maui Babe bronzing lotion on top of our screen.  Smells great and gives you a total NARS body glow vibe for about 1/10 the cost.

“Grace” by Grace Coddington: We love books, we love fashion.  We love fashion books.

Bob Marley “Songs of Freedom” box set: 78 of the hands down most mellow tunes ever made.  Never gets old.

Mexican blankets from Sayulita: For beach blankets, we live and die by these striped Mexican blankets.  Lightweight, washable, great color combos and only 50 pesos.  They usually cost about $70 if you get them in the US, so we prefer to stock up in Mama Mexico and hoard our stash.

1: Rosanna Ikat tote, which is huge, expandable, and only $40. I got it at a sweet Boutique in Nashville called Moda.

2: Extra beach towel for changing/to use as a pillow.

3: Barbara Eberhart WaterBrother Clutch to keep my valuables in – I need something that zips so that sand doesn’t get all over them!

4: Little neoprene/rubber  coin purse/ business card holder.

5: Soft t shirt / coverup. I’m a Wildfox t-shirt addict.

6: Jean shorts. My staple.

7: I always have an extra (dry) bikini in tow. Gotta love me some L*SPACE Fringe!

8: Speaking of sand…I tend to bring a bit of the beach with me unintentionally and leave a trail wherever I go.

9: My “ocean goggles” They are goggles but a little bigger like a mask. This way I can hop in for a swim/dive whenever I feel like it.

10: Reading material – I am a huge fan of the latest book.

11: Some sort of durable hat. I usually go the baseball/trucker hat route…Go Broncos!

12: Supergoop SPF 30 Everyday Sunscreen. I swear by this goop. It’s THE best sunscreen ever.

13: Sun Bum After Sun Spray. It smells amazing and is super moisturizing, and has a bunch of good oils, etc for your skin.

14. Maui Babe Browning Lotion, for when I’m feeling saucy. This stuff works, just remember to layer it over sunscreen.

15. Maybelline BB Beauty Balm. This stuff is great. It’s an 8-in-1 tinted moisturizer.

16. Nude lip pencil/ Lip stain. If I don’t wear something I look like I have no lips…and this is sitting on my never leave the house without it beach sheet by Letarte.

17: Maybelline waterproof mascara. Any kind, any formula. I’m always wearing it.

18: ColorScience Sunforgettable Mineral Sunscreen. This is an amazing brush-on mineral sunscreen for your face.  My mom’s dermatologist gave it to her…so it must be legit. I love it.

19: Fresh Hesperides Grapefruit Rollerball perfume. Anything by Fresh, I wear 24/7. It smells clean and amazing without smelling like perfume.

20: Nars Multiple in Luxor (travel size) – Nars Multiples are da bomb.

21:  I have super oily skin so I put on Physicians Formula Multi-Colored Pressed Powder after I leave the beach, and it evens out my complexion.

22: Moleskine notebook. I carry some sort of sketchbook with me at all times. Usually accompanied by a pencil and sharpie.

Around L*SPACE headquarters, there’s no higher compliment we can give (usually it’s said in #hashtag form) than deeming that something is “#mermaidstatus.” After coming across a few fab variations of “mermaid manicures” on Pinterest, we’re inspired to try the trend ourselves! The girl has it all: a killer bod, a closet full of Chanel, and what’s that husband of hers named again? Oh, right, Ryan Reynolds. And her hair?! Just. Stop. It. Luckily, we’re here to tell you how to get her perfect beachy curls – but you’re on your own with the whole high-status-man-candy thing.

To start, blowdry hair straight, making sure to lift at the roots for volume. Using a curling wand (or curling iron with the clip removed), curl hair in 2-inch vertical sections, keeping curling wand vertical the whole time and wrapping hair around. Once hair is curled, go about your life with your gorgeous new Shirley Temple ‘do for a few minutes and allow the curls to cool. When curls are cool to the touch, fluff hair at the crown with both hands, and bending from side to side, and shake curls out lightly.  To finish, gently tease the roots to add volume, and instead of using hairspray, which can give curls a crunchy look, add a bit of dry shampoo (non-aerosol Klorane is our favorite) to roots to hold volume. Voila! You’re Blake Lively’s hair double!
